Pharmacy Student Receives Leadership Award from California Society of Health-System Pharmacists

Ryan B. Lee

Engaging in leadership opportunities earned Ryan B. Lee ’20, PharmD recognition at the state level.

For as long as he can remember Ryan B. Lee ’20, PharmD has wanted to become a pharmacist. The Southern California native grew up around the profession; both of his parents are pharmacists. “I am blessed with this opportunity to live out my dream and follow in their footsteps so that I may provide quality health care to my future patients,” said Lee. He chose 91˵ for the accelerated pre-pharmacy program.

In a Venn diagram of student life among 91˵’s pharmacy students, Lee can be found at the center. He is a past-president of 91˵’s chapter of the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP), a member of the Rho Pi Phi pharmacy fraternity, a member of the Rho Chi honor society and a member of the Phi Lambda Sigma leadership society. He was also involved in the Medicare Part D Outreach Clinics. “I have made so many memories and friendships that will last a lifetime,” Lee said. “Through the Medicare elective, I was able to learn valuable skills and give back to communities throughout Northern California. I truly believe this elective embodies everything it means to be a pharmacist and is what sets 91˵ apart from other pharmacy schools.”

In October, Lee received the CSHP 2019 Student Leadership Award at the CSHP Seminar in Anaheim. “My friends and family played an equally large role in my development as an individual through their unconditional love and support,” he said. “This award inspires me to work even harder for the people who have helped me become who I am today.”

As he rounds the last lap of becoming a pharmacist, he took a moment to share his vision for an ideal weekend: “Waking up in Hawaii and hiking the Lanikai Pillboxes to see the sunrise. Then, I would eat all the poke and shave ice I could handle, and spend the rest of the day at the beach, swimming, snorkeling and paddle boarding.”
