Overview

The Faculty Dental Service Group is a unique private dental practice in San Francisco. Our dentists are distinguished faculty members of the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry — from professors who research, develop and teach state-of-the-art principles to nationally recognized authorities who lecture at dental conferences and seminars. The practice offers general dental care as well as a wide range of specialties to adult patients.Ìý

Services

Dental specialists in a variety of disciplines are available to meet your oral health care needs, including prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontics and restorative dentistry. Services include cleanings, cosmetic dentistry, tooth whitening, veneers, crowns and bridges, extractions, fillings, nightguards, periodontal therapy, root canals, dentures and implants.Ìý

Fees and Payment Plans

Fees vary according to procedure as well as doctor. Each dentist has his/her own fee schedule. Payment is requested at the time services with cash, check or credit card. Private insurance is also accepted, including Delta Dental. Contract arrangements can be made following extensive treatment. The Faculty Dental Service Group does not accept Denti-Cal.Ìý

How to Become a Patient

All patients are seen by appointment only. To make an appointment, please call 415.929.6524, and we will send you a new patient packet. We also accept referrals.Ìý

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Please be sure to bring the completed new patient packet to your first visit, along with any recent X-rays. This appointment typically involves filling out paperwork and an oral health exam by one of our dentists. X-rays may also be taken if needed.Ìý

Faculty Biographies

Hussein Al-Wakeel

Dr. Wakeel is an assistant professor in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dentistry and a course director for multiple courses for implants and prosthodontics. Prior to joining 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, he worked as a faculty and course director at Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health, Missouri. He currently practices with the Faculty Dental Service Group at the school with focus on Implants, Full mouth rehabilitation and Fixed Prosthodontics.

Kalid Aziz

Dr. Kalid Aziz is an associate professor in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dentistry. Prior to joining 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, he worked as a faculty member at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin overseeing core academic dental disciplines, mentoring dental students performing clinical work and providing comprehensive care to patients in their faculty practice. He currently practices with the Faculty Dental Service Group at the school while focusing strongly on aesthetic and restorative dentistry.

Gretchen Bruce

Dr. Gretchen J. Bruce is an associate professor in the Department of Periodontics. She graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She received her Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois. Her postgraduate periodontal residency was completed at Boston University. She also earned a Masters in Business Administration from the 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ Eberhardt School of Business. She has published several articles in respected journals, is a contributing author of the clinical textÌýHall’s Critical Decisions in Periodontology, and has developed widely used periodontal education materials. Dr. Bruce has lectured extensively to dental organizations and provided the community with numerous seminars on periodontal and treatment. Dr. Bruce practices in the Faculty Dental Service Group at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ and maintains a private practice in Oakland, California.

Eduardo Gonzalez

Dr. Eduardo GonzalezÌýis an assistant professor in the Department of Preventive and Restorative DentistryÌýand part of the Complex Care Team. ÌýHis practice focuses on all aspects of Implant Dentistry, with special interest in esthetic implant restorations and implant site development for the partially edentulous patient.

Brian Kenyon

Dr. Brian Kenyon is an associate professor in the Department of Diagnostic SciencesÌýand a Group Practice Leader in the student clinic. He has received six Teaching Excellence Awards at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, the American College of Dentists Distinguished Northern California Faculty Member Award and has been elected to the Tau Kappa Omega and Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Societies. He maintains a private practice in San Francisco.

Eugene LaBarre (currently not accepting new patients)

Dr. Eugene LaBarre has been a full-time prosthodontics faculty member at the school since 1981 and has served as department chair of Removable and Implant Prosthodontics for 20 years. Prior to teaching at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½, he taught at Tufts, Temple University and the University of Geneva in Switzerland. His research interests include public health and globalizing higher education. He is a teaching consultant at Laguna Honda Hospital in San Francisco and La Clinica de la Raza in Oakland.

Dr. Russ Woodson has held many positions in the last 29 years of working at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. He has served as a clinical instructor, clinic administrator, Director of Operative Dentistry, quality assurance coordinator and international dental studies coordinator. He is also a regional dental consultant to numerous insurance companies and to the state of California Denti-Cal program. He has been an active practicing general dentistry in the Faculty Dental Service Group since 1985.
