Active Minds is the only working to utilize the student voice to change the conversation about mental health on college campuses. By developing and supporting chapters of a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy group on campuses, the organization works to increase students' awareness of mental health issues, provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness, encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed, and serve as liaison between students and the mental health community.Through campus-wide events and national programs, Active Minds aims to remove the stigma that surrounds mental health issues, and create a comfortable environment for an open conversation about mental health issues on campuses throughout North America.

The Active Minds Vision

To destigmatize mental health disorders by promoting open, enlightened discussion of mental health, and to create a better life for all who suffer. To capitalize on the energy and dedication of young adults in the fight against the stigma that surrounds mental health disorders, and to educate, enlighten, and empower all young adults to ensure their own mental health before it ever reaches a tragic stage.

The Active Minds Chapter at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½

Active Minds at 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ was founded in April 2018 by three 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ students and current CAPS director, Dr. Stacie Turks. Active Minds is a national nonprofit that empowers students to change the conversation about mental health and suicide prevention. We raise awareness, share resources, and inspire action. We are dedicated to saving lives and to building stronger campus communities.

Each Active Minds chapter plans campus-wide events that work to change the conversation about mental health. By promoting awareness and education, the organization aims to promote a dialogue around mental health, and create a comfortable environment for open discussion of mental health issues. The mission of each chapter is to:

  1. Increase students’ awareness of mental health issues;
  2. Provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness;
  3. Encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed; and
  4. Serve as liaison between students and the mental health community

Goals for this partnership:

  • Advocating for mental health through Active Minds as a national organization that starts the conversation on many college and high school campuses;
  • Raise awareness surrounding mental health and suicide prevention;
  • Educate our youth, high school students, about self-care, stress management practices, and mental health; and
  • Have high school Active Minds chapters in our community.
