Expanded Week of Welcome helps students reconnect for spring semester
Video game competitions, mixers, rock climbing challenges and a trivia night are some of the many activities taking place during Winter Week of Welcome鈥攁n opportunity for new and returning students to connect and explore the Stockton Campus before the start of classes.
Nearly 40 events are planned from Jan. 13-21. .
鈥淥ur fall Week of Welcome was an unbelievable success, and we look forward to the same energy when students return for the spring semester,鈥 said Josh O鈥機onnor, executive director for Student Life. 鈥淪tudents will have opportunities to meet people, take part in academic and wellness workshops and learn about campus resources that can greatly enhance their success.鈥
New students and their families will be welcomed to campus Jan. 13. The day-long orientation includes a tour of campus and a variety of sessions to help students transition to 91成人导航.听
A winter-wonderland themed mixer that evening will kick off activities for new and returning students in Calaveras Hall. It will be hosted by Residential Life and Housing.
Rock climbing challenges (Jan. 16), weight room orientations (Jan. 18) and a Zumba glow party (Jan. 19) are a few of the special events taking place in the Baun Fitness Center.
Several events will be held celebrating the life of Martin Luther King Jr., including a speech and poetry reading Jan. 18 in the DeRosa University Center Lair. Students are invited to share personal insights and reflections on his work and impact to society.
Students can 鈥淢eet the Greeks鈥 Jan. 19 to learn about upcoming events and how to join one of 91成人导航鈥檚 11 social fraternities and sororities and 15 professional fraternities.听
Several men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball games will take place in the Alex G. Spanos Center throughout the week, with free admission for students who show their 91成人导航Card. Athletics will host a tailgate with games and door prizes before the Jan. 21 game when the men鈥檚 team takes on Gonzaga.
ASuop, 91成人导航鈥檚 governing student body, has planned several films in the Janet Leigh Theatre and a trivia night in the DeRosa University Center Lair Jan. 19.
Informational sessions on time management skills, services for students with disabilities and support for first-generation college students also are planned.听
