Minor Requirements

You will take a minimum of 20 units using the course requisites below. You may count no more than one course from their major department towards the requirements for the minor. You may take additional electives based on their interest to reach or exceed 20 units.  

  • One Media Tools/Technology required course  

  • One Media Storytelling required course  

  • One Media Literacies required course  

  • Three additional elective courses   

Learning Objectives

  1. Synthesize and apply knowledge from the liberal arts to produce culturally relevant, effective content.  

  1. Adapt and translate content across multiple media platforms using historical, theoretical, and technical knowledge to make and defend creative decisions.  

  1. Exercise self-initiative and project management techniques congruent with a field characterized by high levels of autonomy, independence, interdependence, and entrepreneurship. 

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of expected and alternative forms of collaboration in the professional media industries when creating and executing collaborative projects.  

Media Mash

The media arts and production program offers exceptional hands-on learning experiences, including the annual Media Mash event. This unique opportunity brings accomplished alumni—filmmaker Chris Schueler and producer Dean Butler—back to campus to guide students through intensive, real-world production projects. Media Mash not only sharpens students' creative and technical skills but also highlights the power of 91˵’s professional network, allowing students to build meaningful connections while making a tangible impact on the community.
