Social justice issues manifest themselves in different ways across the university. For this reason, embedded within every academic unit and administrative division are DEI leads, 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ faculty and staff identified by their dean or vice president to lead DEI efforts within their division or school/college. These individuals have a dotted line to the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and have DEI-related responsibilities embedded within their job description. Many also serve on the University Committee for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Responsibilities include:
- Meet monthly with peer group and VP for DEI (September through May)
- Share freely with peers’ best practices
- Report DEI-related concerns and needs so that VP for DEI can understand, aggregate, and support institutional needs, patterns and opportunities
