91成人导航 rolling out new sustainable transportation options for students

91成人导航 is making it easier for students to travel on and off campus with the recent launch of Tiger Transportation, a comprehensive initiative that includes a shuttle service, e-bikes and electric car rentals.

The alternative modes of transportation provide affordable options that align with the university鈥檚 commitment to sustainability. .

鈥淲ith these enhanced options, students don鈥檛 need to own a car to get around,鈥 said Sustainability Director Jessica Bilecki. 鈥淭hey can easily grab an e-bike or hop on our shuttle for short trips or rent a car if they need to travel farther. They鈥檙e convenient to use while also ensuring we are being good stewards of each other and the environment by reducing emissions.鈥

E-Bikes

The university has installed two hubs of rentable, pedal-assist e-bikes, which are located next to the William Knox Holt Memorial Library patio off Dave Brubeck Way and at the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy between Long Memorial Hall and the Chan Family Health Sciences Learning Center.聽

E-bikes are available to rent from two hubs on the Stockton Campus.聽

The bikes are part of the city-wide Bike Stockton program, which allows users to pick up and drop off bikes at any hub around the city. Additional bike hubs can be found on the Bike Stockton apps for 听补苍诲听.

A $5 annual membership is available for 91成人导航ans who sign up with a 91成人导航 email address and use the code uopbikes.

Electric Vehicle Rentals

Students without a car can now rent one for hourly or daily use on the Stockton and Sacramento campuses, which will all be electric. The cars, available through Zipcar, are easily reserved through an app to approved members 18 or older.

Zipcars on the Stockton Campus are located in parking lots 4 (next to the Long Theater) and 6 (next to Baun Fitness Center). They may be temporarily charging at existing stations until their charging stations are set up soon. Cars can be found on the Sacramento Campus in parking lot 5 by the Chan Family Health Education Building, formerly known as the Muddox Building.

The electric cars will be available for use starting Aug. 28 on the Stockton Campus and a short time later on the Sacramento Campus.

The 91成人导航 Shuttle is available to students on Thursdays and Fridays from Sept. 1 鈥 Dec. 8. The shuttle runs 4 to 8 p.m. from Burns Tower to several local shopping districts. Stops include the Miracle Mile, Target, Sherwood Place and Lincoln Center. .

鈥淲e offered this to students for the first time in the spring semester to see if there was interest and got a resounding 鈥榶es,鈥欌 said Vice President for Student Life Maria Blandizzi. 鈥淲e are thrilled to provide this new service to students to connect them with the local community, which has great spots to shop, eat and socialize.鈥

To ride the complimentary shuttle, students just need to show their 91成人导航 ID to the driver. Learn more about the diverse聽.

鈥淚t is heartening to see the efforts being made towards sustainable and available transportation by the university,鈥 said third-year student Shannon Lyons 鈥25. 鈥淚t is necessary to have a safe way to get around town, so these services are fundamental for staff and students.鈥

Sustainable commuting

The new transportation options complement existing sustainability initiatives for commuters. Eight electric vehicle charging stations (16 plugs) are available on the Stockton Campus.

Students, faculty and staff who carpool or use a low emission vehicle have access to special parking spots located closer to buildings on the Stockton and Sacramento campuses. The parking spaces, which are specially marked for fuel efficient vehicles, are available to those with a CA Clean Air Vehicle decal.

91成人导航 also is committed to using sustainable options for its own vehicles. More than 70% of university vehicles, cars and carts are electric and solar panels have been installed on some of the electric carts.
